New Loot! (#33)

Yet more games have made their merry way into my collection. This time they're PC games we got when we bought an old gaming PC from my cousin. Not sure if I'll play them, but with me, you never know.

***Overlord***

Of the four games, this is the one that intrigues me the most. Don't know much about it. You get to be the overlord in charge of a horde of minions, making them do your bidding. Crude humor is listed in the rating. There's mention of rabid unicorns. Yes, please.

Sounds a little like Fable on crack. Or not.

I've not gotten very far into Fable Anniversary yet, but I am a longtime fan of the game series. Below I've shared a few of the screenshots I've taken so far. Enjoy! ♥

—Game Review— Final Fantasy XIII-2

They made a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII?!?

That was my reaction when I first heard (years ago now) and I gotta say, it wasn't in a "WTF?" kinda way. There were things about FFXIII that I loved, but a bunch of stuff I hated, so the news that there would be a sequel got me hoping for an improvement over FF13.

On the Horizon (#13) - God of War 5

In which I talk about games and game-related products that are not yet released and how much I want them...

***God of War 5***

Anyone who saw the E3 trailer for the next installment in the God of War franchise must be intrigued. They certainly managed to make me curious over a series I have very little interest in. (Yeah, I remember that I already have the whole bleeding saga. Yeah, I haven't played it and I'm actually a little nervous to do so. I've heard...things...)

Anyway, below you'll find the trailer I'm referring to. ▼ I'd say this gameplay vid is an M-rated one, though I'm pretty sure this game hasn't yet reached the point where it gets its official rating.

*How to Kill Grug & Ork*
Borderlands 2
Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep

Here is yet another spot in Borderlands 2 (this time in the Tiny Tina DLC) where you can hang out and kill something stronger than you without getting hit by them: aka a Glitch Rock. ▼

Movie Monday (#19) - Trish's Bloody Palace (DMC4)

It's time for another gaming clip from yours truly. For this week's selection, I've shared a bit of the Bloody Palace from Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. I'm using Trish in this particular bit. I find her the easiest to use, though I still completely suck at arenas...which is all the Bloody Palace is. It should be noted that this is only a few early levels of the Bloody Palace. I went on to beat several more levels, but then I died. Horribly. Well, Trish did. I didn't record that.

Enjoy! ♥

On the Horizon (#12) - NieR Automata

In which I talk about games and game-related products not yet released, and how much I want them...

***NieR: Automata***

I don't know much about this upcoming release from Square Enix, and I've only played a little bit of the original Nier, but for some reason, I want this game. It could be the E3 trailer sold me on a game I was already curious about. I'm not sure. I've linked the trailer below, so check it out for yourself. ▼

On the Horizon (#11) - Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration

In which I yammer on about games or game-related items not yet released, and how much I want them...

**Rise of the Tomb Raider**
20 Year Celebration

I recently got an email from Square Enix (Of course I'm subscribed to their newsletter! I'm obsessed with Squeenix, remember?) and it was filled with info on the upcoming special edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider

This is a game I've wanted for a while, but have yet to acquire. Now, I will wait until I can get my hands on this special, 20th anniversary edition. I mean, check out everything it includes:

I swiped this from the purchase page. Clicking it will enlarge it so you can read it [hopefully].
Clicking HERE will take you to the link where I nabbed it. ♥

It's really neat to see how far Tomb Raider has come from its very beginning. Check out the YouTube vid I've linked below. ▼

Tips N Tricks Tuesday (#4) - Defeating Dukino's Mom (Borderlands 2)

I'm coming to realize that Borderlands 2 is the game I've probably got the most tips about. Kinda weird, but then again, maybe not. I don't like FPSs, so gaming the system is a bit of a hobby now, I suppose. lol

**Defeating Dukino's Mom "Trick"**

I'm terrible at FPSs. Seriously bad. I don't know how to get out of the way and my aim is really, really bad. To that end, I look for corners where I can shoot things but they can't shoot me.

The idea that these places exist was put in my head by my brother and my husband. They read somewhere about a spot they refer to as Glitch Rock in the side mission where you take on Terramorphous. I don't know if they came up with the moniker or if the original poster did, but that's what we call it. It's a spot you can stand and shoot Terramorphous and he can't touch you. So now I look for a similar spot in every boss fight I'm in, even little bosses like Dukino's Mom.

Movie Monday (#18) - In the Face! (Borderlands 2)

How about a clip of the EASIEST trophy/achievement to get in Borderlands 2? And at the same time, you get the great feeling of fulfilling someone's deepest desire. Take a look...

Oh, rated M. You've been warned.

On the Horizon (#10) - Tiny Nintendo

In which I talk about upcoming games or game related items I am eager to get my hands on...

Do you remember how expensive NES games were back in the day? I'm rather surprised Mom bought any for us. She did buy a few though, and my cousins had a few more. But between us, we only had a handful of games.

To that end, I'm really excited about this:

Yeah, you read that right. Nintendo recently announced their plans to release a tiny NES that will come pre-packed with 30 classic NES games. The list is varied and wonderful, some of them childhood favorites, and others I never had the opportunity to try.

Screenshot Saturday (#21) - Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

I've been playing more Enslaved lately since I have character skins that boost their abilities. This selection of screenshots shows off the Classic Monkey skin, which gives Monkey more strength in his attacks. It's a neat looking skin, I admit.

Oh, one shot is a mech, not Monkey. The mech's pretty cool too.

    On the Horizon (#9)

In which I talk about upcoming games or game-related items I'm eager to get my hands on...

    ***Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice***

So, yeah. Remember Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC Devil May Cry? All made by Ninja Theory, the greatest game developer of all time? (No, they didn't pay me to say that. I'm just in love with them. All of them. The whole damn company.)

They're making another game, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. I've watched a few of their development diaries and WOW. I can't even believe this is a game. Check out this Senua trailer:

Freaky, right? She looks so lifelike, so real. I'm really excited about this game. It's still a little ways from release; it's not even up on Amazon yet...but it is on Steam. It appears it will be released for PS4 and PC, so YAY ME!!! I'm gonna get it for both! Eventually. :D

I strongly recommend you check out the development diaries. It's really cool to see this game take shape. You can find the whole list on YouTube:

Tips N Tricks Tuesday (#3) - Red Orb Farming With Lady (DMC4)

I'm a huge fan of the Devil May Cry series (all of them, really. Read my review of DmC HERE), so I've picked up a thing or two during my 200+ hours of gameplay. The following trick from Devil May Cry 4 is one I make use of quite a bit.

      **Red Orb Farming With Lady**
      Devil May Cry 4

So, first off, if you want to use Lady for this, you have to have the Special Edition. However, this trick can be done with Nero in the standard edition.

Movie Monday (#17) - Grinding Adorably (FFIII)

How about a gameplay video from one of the cutest Final Fantasy games I've played? I don't think I'm even halfway through this game, but it's pretty entertaining, even if grinding is a necessity. Grinding, adorably. It's the only way you're allowed to play FFIII. Adorably.

      Enjoy! ♥

—Game Review— Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Hubby and I downloaded the demo for this game and it sat on the 360 for a while before either one of us decided to try it out. He tried it and found it a bit frustrating, platformer that it is and hardcore gamer that he's not. I took over and got through the demo. We were both impressed with the graphics. I mean, damn. Seriously, DAMN. He sent me off to look for the game on Amazon.

I bought it. I played it. More than once. I loved it. I even bought the PC edition, just so I could have the little extras I couldn't get with the console edition. Um, yeah. Love. SO. MUCH. LOVE.

        Let's break this all down.

Not everyone seems to love Final Fantasy Type-0 the way I do. I find that interesting. I've spent a lot of time with this game on my PS4 and I intend to buy the Steam (PC) edition too.

        —Game Review— Borderlands 2

My brother got hubby and I into Borderlands 2. It was funny, 'cause none of us in a million years would have given this game a chance. Wanna know why?

        The cover art.

We're not shoot-'em-up gamers, not really, so the image of a human-like creature blowing his brains out was not appealing. We assumed it was not a game for us. In fact, I never even gave the game a second glance and had no idea what game my brother was talking about when he mentioned it. (He opted to try it out 'cause Microsoft had it pretty cheap in the Xbox Live Marketplace.)

Needless to say, we were hooked. The humor is stupid enough to please our redneck personalities. But I'll get more into that in the review itself.

        On the Horizon (#8)

Yet another game I'm anxiously awaiting.

        ***Final Fantasy XII***
        The Zodiac Age

Holy crap! I freakin' LOVE Squeenix right now! They're redoing so many of their older games, porting ones to PC, remaking, blah, blah, blah!!! FFIX, FFX/X-2 ported to PC, FFVII remake in the works, not to mention all the ones they ported to PC years ago. I'm in Final Fantasy HEAVEN!!

They're re-releasing FFXII for PS4, but it's not just simply an HD remaster/re-release. They are remastering/re-releasing the version of XII that was previously only released in Japan. Yeah. So freaking excited!!

Here's the official announcement trailer from Square Enix:

Tips N Tricks Tuesday (#2) - Leveling Up With Marcus (Borderlands 2)

I've played a lot of Borderlands 2 and learned a lot of things. Some from my hubby and some from my brother. Here's one of the first things hubby taught me. Not sure where he heard about it, or if he figured it out on his own.

          **Leveling Up With Marcus**
          Borderlands 2

One of the first things my hubby taught me when playing Borderlands 2 was a leveling trick involving Marcus, the gun seller in Sanctuary.

Please note: This is an M-rated game, and this particular vid is a little gory, since I forgot to turn off the gore... I think...

Movie Monday (#16) - Roland vs. 9-Toes (Borderlands)

More fun with Borderlands. I got a new graphics card which came with better video capturing software, so here ya go! Enjoy this surprisingly short boss fight. Yeah, it ended a LOT faster than I expected. This guy usually kills me a lot. This is an M-rated game, so if you're squeamish about crude humor and bloody chunks, you might wanna skip this one. ♥

            New Loot! (#32)

More loot for my mad gaming self! Woot!!

            ***The Order: 1886***
            Collector's Edition

I kinda like Collector's Editions, especially when they include statues and cool things like that. This game has intrigued me since I saw the first trailer, but the mixed reviews made me hesitate. I finally took the plunge.

This edition has the game in a steelbook case, codes to download some in-game items, the soundtrack, and a nifty statue of [I assume] the main character taking cover. It's all pretty neat.

            ***Heavenly Sword***
            DVD

As a fan of video games, I am, of course, a fan of anything and everything related to video games. I grabbed the Heavenly Sword DVD from Amazon for the stellar deal of only $3.74. How could I possibly pass that up?

From everything I've read, this movie parallels the game. It's not a prequel, not a sequel; it's the same story, just not interactive. I've not made it very far in the game yet, but I think I'll wait until I've beaten it before watching this.

            ***Xbox 360 Controller***
            Rock Candy

Some of you know I broke my old 360 controller, so I needed to get a new one. I'd been admiring the brightly colored Rock Candy controllers for some time, so I finally took the plunge and grabbed myself a lime green one. Seems to work pretty well at this point, but I've only given it 20 mins of testing so far. It sure is pretty.

            Until next time...
