On the Horizon (#9)

In which I talk about upcoming games or game-related items I'm eager to get my hands on...

***Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice***

So, yeah. Remember Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and DmC Devil May Cry? All made by Ninja Theory, the greatest game developer of all time? (No, they didn't pay me to say that. I'm just in love with them. All of them. The whole damn company.)

They're making another game, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. I've watched a few of their development diaries and WOW. I can't even believe this is a game. Check out this Senua trailer:

Freaky, right? She looks so lifelike, so real. I'm really excited about this game. It's still a little ways from release; it's not even up on Amazon yet...but it is on Steam. It appears it will be released for PS4 and PC, so YAY ME!!! I'm gonna get it for both! Eventually. :D

I strongly recommend you check out the development diaries. It's really cool to see this game take shape. You can find the whole list on YouTube:

    New Loot! (#32)

More loot for my mad gaming self! Woot!!

    ***The Order: 1886***
    Collector's Edition

I kinda like Collector's Editions, especially when they include statues and cool things like that. This game has intrigued me since I saw the first trailer, but the mixed reviews made me hesitate. I finally took the plunge.

This edition has the game in a steelbook case, codes to download some in-game items, the soundtrack, and a nifty statue of [I assume] the main character taking cover. It's all pretty neat.

    ***Heavenly Sword***
    DVD

As a fan of video games, I am, of course, a fan of anything and everything related to video games. I grabbed the Heavenly Sword DVD from Amazon for the stellar deal of only $3.74. How could I possibly pass that up?

From everything I've read, this movie parallels the game. It's not a prequel, not a sequel; it's the same story, just not interactive. I've not made it very far in the game yet, but I think I'll wait until I've beaten it before watching this.

    ***Xbox 360 Controller***
    Rock Candy

Some of you know I broke my old 360 controller, so I needed to get a new one. I'd been admiring the brightly colored Rock Candy controllers for some time, so I finally took the plunge and grabbed myself a lime green one. Seems to work pretty well at this point, but I've only given it 20 mins of testing so far. It sure is pretty.

    New Loot! (#19)

I can't seem to stop buying games, even knowing I don't have time to play them all. There's something broken in my head...

    ***Heavenly Sword***

    Published by Sony Computer Entertainment
    Developed by Ninja Theory
    Released 2007
    PlayStation Exclusive
    *Rated T for Teen*

I bought a PS3 game and I don't even have a PS3. I think that might mean I have a problem. However, this is a Ninja Theory game and I LOVE them. L.O.V.E. It's an unhealthy obsession, really. Stalkerly, even. OK, maybe not that bad. Still.

Oh, and guess what else? I discovered there's a movie of this game, one that runs parallel to the game, according to the reviews I've read on Amazon. I've added it to my wishlist, of course.

    ***Dante's Inferno***

    Published by EA Games
    Developed by Visceral Games
    Released 2010
    *Rated M for Mature 17+*

Um, yeah. I can't exactly remember why I got this other than it seemed to be the type of game I'd enjoy. I don't even remember exactly what it's about, other than the classic poem by Dante. You know the one. Inferno? [snort]

    ***N3 Ninety Nine Nights***

    Published by Microsoft Studios
    Developed by Q Entertainment/Phantagram
    Released 2006
    Xbox Exclusive
    *Rated M for Mature 17+*

I have the second game, so I needed the first. Right? Am I right? Yeah, sure. Anyway, I got it. I'll play it. I enjoy the second game though it gives me fits from time to time. Crazy psycho, throw-the-controller fits. Yeah... there's  definitely something broken in my head...

    ***Venetica***

    Published by dtp entertainment/Atari
    Developed by Deck 13 Interactive
    Released 2009
    *Rated T for Teen*

Another I bought 'cause it seemed like a game I'd like. I opted for the PC version 'cause it was cheaper and I like my PC. We'll see how that goes...

    Also available for PS3.

    ***The Last Wish***
    Introducing the Witcher

    Written by Andrzej Sapkowski
    Published by Orbit
    Released 2008

Not a game, but certainly related to a few. I'm not sure how much I'll actually like this book, but I figured I'd buy the first in the series and give it a shot. I have a feeling the gore might be a little more than I'm comfortable with, but who knows. Maybe the games are more graphic. LOL

    Until next time...
