—Game Review— Final Fantasy All The Bravest

I recently discovered there are free-to-play Final Fantasy mobile apps. Being a fan of FF, I immediately downloaded all the free ones. All The Bravest is the first to get reviewed. In a word, meh.

Mild Fantasy Violence

HGG rating: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 3/10

Synopsis?
You are...well, a buttload of characters and you need to...save...something...or someone. There doesn't seem to be much of a story, or at least not one that sticks with ya.

First impressions?
Cute...but weird. Yeah, RPGs tend to have several playable characters, but this one is a bit ridiculous.

Graphics and voices?
There is no voice acting in this, so no comment there. The graphics are old-school, 8-bit style. Cute, of course.

Gameplay?
Meh. Nothing to write home about and certainly nothing to write much about here. You face off against a baddie or two and tap each of your characters to make them attack. I got bored with that really quick and just started dragging my finger down the line of characters.

As you level up, you get new characters and more spots to stick 'em in. They have different attacks, but it doesn't really matter. Your only interaction with the game is to click the character.

Storyline?
I'm not sure what it is, so it's not very compelling.

Complaints?
Um... uninteresting story, uninteresting gameplay. I don't know why this is considered an RPG at all. You don't get to choose your party members, equip weapons and armor, or build up skills. It's so loosely based on FF as to be unrelated at all. Place names, character jobs, a moogle, the music... yeah, that's about all that's FF about it.

Overall?
Not great. Kids might like it. It's cute, but not compelling. At least it's free. I guess.

My rating?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 3/10 life hearts.
Seriously, I'm not sure exactly what anyone involved in this game was thinking. It's strange, and if not for the simplicity and cuteness that might appeal to young children, I don't think it would have anything at all going for it.
