I didn't think there'd be a demo for this game, so I was rather thrilled when I discovered there was. I grabbed it and gave it a try right away.

Synopsis?
As this is nothing more than a small dungeon for the purposes of trying out the battle system, there really isn't anything I can say about this other than... get through the dungeon.
First impressions?
Super cute. Almost sickeningly so. Interesting battle system, though.
Graphics and voices?
Cute. Really cute. Almost too cute. They look like those POP thingies that my kid finds so fascinating. You can switch them to look more "normal" though they are still super cute.
The voices are great. They usually are in anything Squeenix does. As this is the WORLD of FF, there are cameo appearances by characters from previous games, all looking like those POP things.
Gameplay?
Strange, but not in a bad way. There is a stacking system wherein you literally stack creatures you've captured (mirages) on top of your head. This increases your stats. You can unstack too, but I've yet to figure out the benefit of that.
Here's a vid of my gameplay demonstrating the battle system, as well as the RPG aspects of the game, and a bit of exploration. There really isn't much to explore.

Storyline?
None. It's a demo. You have to get through the dungeon and that's it.
Complaints?
The battles are long and boring. You have to wait your turn to attack and it takes for FREAKING EVER. Or at least it seems like it. I know it's not that long, but it gets old fast, and makes grinding more annoying than fun. There doesn't seem to be a way to speed up the battles.
Overall?
Pretty decent demo. I'm intrigued, but more for my kids than myself, I think, though I'd certainly play it too. I'll probably buy this game once the price drops a bit.
HGG score?

Cute, fun game, but I don't think it's worth the full price.

Until next time...
You can speed up the battles.
ReplyDeleteIn the starter screen config menu, change battle speed to 5, set it to active battle and you can press and hold the R key to speed it up even faster, beyond this. Definitely a speed improvement, over the stock config!
Oh, excellent! I didn't even think to check the settings for something like that. Thanx for letting us know! ♥
