Gaming Misadventures (#1)

Yet another themed set of blog posts, this time random ones not attached to a specific day. Why not share funny, weird, or frustrating moments in gaming? Again, these moments will probably mostly be my own, but I may share the adventures of others from time to time. Who knows?

Did I mention that I broke my 360 controller about a week ago? During an arena battle in Borderlands (PC edition)? No? Well, I did. Broke my controller, that is.

Not another one! Why are controllers so fragile?

—Game Review— DmC Devil May Cry

I've played through this game several times on the 360 and now I've treated myself to the PC edition, because...well, why not? ☺ Having the PC version means screencaps and new impressions, though the gameplay itself isn't any different from the console version. (Yes, I PC game using a 360 controller.) I've also bought myself the Definitive Edition for PS4, 'cause....again, why not? Might as well own them all. LOL

New Loot! (#31)

I just love buying new games. I want to try them all out immediately, but that's kinda silly when you think about it. I mean, I need to finish a few of the others I've started before starting a new one, right? Right??

***New Loot! (#31)***

Steam's summer sale is happening right now,* and there are tons of games I want. I had to limit myself to just a few this time, though, since money's a little tight. But this is gaming and seriously, if I don't spend my money on games, I'll buy something really silly. Like food. Or clothes.

So here is today's haul, with a nifty little clipping from my invoice to show you the games I settled on. Settled, pffft!
  • Final Fantasy VIII - Square Enix; Rated T - I already have this for PS1, but I love gaming on my PC, so figured I'd try out this port.
  • Final Fantasy XIII - Square Enix; Rated T - I already have this for 360, but I wanted it for PC too, 'cause... REASONS!
  • Tales of Symphonia - Bandai Namco; Rated T - I adored Tales of Vesperia (check out my review HERE)! I decided I want to try all the Tales of games eventually. Most of them are PlayStation exclusives, specifically PS3, and some are for the handheld gaming devices. Symphonia was originally on Nintendo CameCube, was then ported to PS3, which was then ported to PC. Quite a journey this little game has had.
*The summer sale ends July 4, just FYI. ♥
    Until next time...

Tips N Tricks Tuesday (#1) - Red Orb Farming with Dante (DmC)

On Tuesdays—not all Tuesdays, but some Tuesdays—I will now be sharing various gaming tips and tricks I've discovered over the years. These will mostly be my own discoveries, and probably won't be anything great or anything someone else hasn't already discovered, but they helped me and theoretically should help others. When I share other people's tricks that I've used myself, I will endeavor to give credit where credit is due. I will include screenshots and/or videos when I can, because a picture really is worth a thousand words in gaming.

For my very first tip, here's one that I discovered during my first playthrough of the Xbox 360 edition of DmC Devil May Cry (aka DMC5).

Please note: This is an M-rated game, though there isn't anything M-rated in this vid. No language, and only inanimate objects are destroyed. ▼

Movie Monday (#15) - Epic Battle (Fallout 4)

I'm not the only gamer in the house. Hubby games too. The only games we have in common are the Borderlands games. Otherwise, we are very different gamers. He loves Skyrim and Fallout 4. I don't care for them at all. But he's caught some pretty interesting game vidz in his playthroughs. I've linked one here. Epic battle, anyone?

      Screenshot Saturday (#18) - Borderlands 2

All this time with this blog and doing Screenshot Saturday and I have never shared images from Borderlands 2. How sad is that? It's one of my all-time favorite games; I've played several hundred hours on Xbox 360, PC, and PS4. Serious fan RIGHT HERE. That said, here are some shots from the Tiny Tina DLC on the PS4 Handsome Collection.

      Screenshot Saturday (#17) - FFIII

Final Fantasy III was originally for...shoot. I can't remember. A handheld gaming device. I wanna say Nintendo DS, but I could be wrong. It's probably even older than that. Anyway, Steam had the PC port so I grabbed it during a Square Enix sale. Here are some shots from one of the most adorable games I've played in a long time. This one's pretty kid-friendly.

Another GoG Sale: Earn FREE Games!

GoG's big summer sale is happening now!

      ***GoG Sale***

GoG's summer sale is on and you can earn free games! Just collect XP, which can be earned by doing little tasks assigned right on the site, or by buying games.

Yeah, so buying games doesn't really equal free, but some games are as little as $1.49 (Witcher Enhanced Edition, Witcher Adventure Game, and others), which will earn you 1500 XP each. Then just do the little things around the site they set up for you and you'll have earned the 5000 XP required to get Spelunky for free. Looks like a cute little platformer.

Of course, all of the Witcher games are on sale. Witcher III Wild Hunt is 50% off, making it only $24.99. All the expansions are on sale too. If retro Tomb Raider is your thing, you can grab all the old games for only $7.47. There are also Star Trek games and Dungeons & Dragons games. A little something for everyone.

The sale ends June 22, so you have only a few days to decide. Happy gaming! ♥

      Until next time...

Movie Monday (#13) - DmC Devil May Cry

Time for another movie here on the Heartless Gamer Girl. I've chosen a longer vid today, one that made me groan when I actually got through it and realized the achievement I was shooting for wasn't even an achievement. I made it all the way through mission 17 (Furnace of Souls) without getting burned. Turns out it doesn't matter in the Definitive Edition of DmC. Oh well. It's still a cool vid.

DmC Devil May Cry quickly became one of my favorite games. So much so that after buying the Xbox 360 edition, I also grabbed the PS4 Definitive Edition and then the PC edition. I may have a problem...

—DLC Review— Snow: Perpetual Battlefield (FFXIII-2)

There are three playable parts of the DLC for FFXIII-2. I actually bought two of them separately on the 360 before the bundle pack was released, then I bought the bundle. Should have waited, I know, but I'm the impatient sort.

I have this for PC as well as 360.

        New Loot! (#30)

I haven't gotten new loot lately, but hubby just bought some shiny new things for my PC. Computer guts! Woo-hoo!! ♥

        ***New Loot! (#30)***
I have a pretty decent gaming PC (it's actually my EVERYTHING computer, but I game on it too), but hubby decided to upgrade the graphics card again. I'm not complaining. He got me a gaming card that withstands my games so much BETTER. Holy frell, you have no idea. I may have to start reviewing hardware on this blog.

OK, I admit it. He bought it for himself. LOL He plays Skyrim and Fallout 4 on my PC, so he kinda needed the upgrade. But then he went and bought all the parts he needed to build his own gaming PC, including the items I've listed below, so now it's all mine. :D

First thing he bought was the graphics card. It's an AMD R9 380 GAMING 4G card. This badboy is insane. Two HUGE fans. It's so big we had to remove the wireless card just so this thing will fit. Not a big deal, since my wireless card quit working a while ago. :P

I posted a pic on Facebook of my new card sitting next to my old 4G card. You can check it out for yourself by clicking HERE.

How pretty is this thing? I mean, damn. It's even black and red. It's like it was made for me. ;)

My computer's fairly old, so my old power supply couldn't handle my new graphics card. So hubby got a new power supply too. He got a Sentey 725W Xplus Power Supply. I don't really know what else to say about it. It's a power supply. LOL

He got everything hooked up and working. Took a bit to get through all the initial setup for the new card, as usual. (Stupid Windows with its tendency to freak the frell out over every tiny thing. grumble, grumble) But we got through it. Then he tried out Fallout 4 and Skyrim. DEFINITE improvement. Wow. Then he made me (HA! Made me, lol!) play a few of my games and really test the graphics. Tomb Raider (2013) was the most noticeably improved. Holy crap. Funny how quickly you get used to some lag in a video game. Once it's gone, it's shocking. In a good way.

Enough about that. If I keep going, this will turn into a review instead of a simple "Look at my loot!" post. So I'll leave it at that.

The images here link to Amazon, in case you want to check out specs, reviews, etc.

Movie Monday (#12) - FFXV Episode Duscae

I haven't taken very many videos of the Episode Duscae demo, and the ones I've taken are all very similar. This one, though, answered a question I'd had from almost the first moment of the game.

Can you get hit by a car?

I grabbed Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning when it went on sale on the Xbox Live Marketplace for only $3. Later, I grabbed it for PC when Steam had a sale. It is a fun, easy game. Here are some lovely screenshots from the PC edition for your gaming enjoyment.
