On the Horizon (#5)

Here's a game I've been looking forward to for some time now.

***Battleborn***

Published by 2K Games
Developed by Gearbox Software
Will be released Feb 2016
*Rating Pending*
(most likely M for Mature 17+)

I love the Borderlands games and after watching a few gameplay videos of Battleborn, I want it. It reminds me in many ways of Borderlands and that shouldn't be surprising considering it's Gearbox and 2K again.

This game has 25 different characters, 10 of which have been revealed on the official site. Multiplayer is a huge deal in this game, but I was relieved to find out that's not all it is. I'm not a fan of online multiplayer, so I'm really looking forward to, as is the case with most games I play, the Story Mode.

As much as I want another Borderlands, I think this game will satisfy me until Gearbox decides it's time for another foray into vault hunting. Fingers crossed.

Until next time...

New Loot! (#13)

Here's one I forgot...

***Tomb Raider***

Published by Square Enix
Developed by Crystal Dynamics
Released 2013
*Rated M for Mature 17+*

This was one I picked up free a long time ago when Microsoft offered it to Xbox Live Gold users. I don't normally share every single one of those I pick up since I rarely play them longer than ten minutes or so and then they usually end up deleted from my console. I happened to play this one through to the end, however, and I quite enjoyed it, so I figured I'd add it to my 'loot I need to share with my readers' pile.

I was a Tomb Raider fan way back when I had a playstation (PS1). In fact, though I no longer have a working PS1, I still have Tomb Raider 1 & 2 (I also have Gran Turismo 1 & 2, but that's a different story). So this new take on the franchise was one I was eyeballing for a while. It was a nice bonus when Microsoft offered it for free.

***Tomb Raider***
Definitive Edition

Published by Square Enix
Developed by Crystal Dynamics
Released 2014
*Rated M for Mature 17+*

While I'm at it, I might as well share that I also grabbed the Definitive Edition when it was offered free for Xbox One. It includes all the DLC and a few extras only available in the Def Ed. I haven't played it yet, but I'll get to it eventually, just to see what's different if for no other reason.

Until next time...

On the Horizon (#4)

Did you hear? They're remaking Final Fantasy VII. Not porting the old game to the new consoles. Actually remaking it. Forgive me if I SQUEE here and now over this news. FINALLY!

***Final Fantasy VII***
Remake

Will be published by Square Enix
Being developed by Square Eidos Interactive
Tentative release date December 2016
*Rating Pending*
(Most likely T for Teen)

I can't even begin to express how much I'm looking forward to this game. This was the first FF game I ever played (not too long after that I played the original Final Fantasy on the NES), and I fell in love, so the idea of an actual remake is indescribable.

SQUEE!!

Until next time...

New Loot! (#12)

So much loot, so little time. I'll play 'em though. I'm determined. Here's my latest score...

***The Last of Us***
REMASTERED

Published by Sony Computer Entertainment
Developed by Naughty Dog
Released 2015
*Rated M for Mature 17+*

This came with my PS4 but I've wondered about it off and on for a while now. Being that it's always been a Playstation exclusive, I wasn't sure I'd ever have a chance to play it. Good thing the Xbox One turned out to be a bigger Xbone than we ever thought it could be, thus encouraging us to splurge on a PS4. lol

***Knack***

Published by Sony Computer Entertainment
Developed by SCE Japan Studio
Released 2013
*Rated E10 for Everyone 10+*

Hubby wanted this game and though I haven't tried playing it yet, it's super cute and our 9yo boy thinks it's great. We weren't sure he'd like it since he pretty much eats, breathes, and sleeps Skylanders, but he took to this game like a pro.

***PS4***

That's right. I finally got a PS4. Hubby bought it for me as a surprise. I got the one bundled with The Last of Us, a game I thought sounded intriguing.

I'll have more to say once I've used it more, but so far, I far prefer the PS4 to the Xbone.

Until next time...

New Loot! (#11)

I got these a while ago, but I never mentioned it. I probably should since Tales of Vesperia quickly became one of my Top 10 favorite games.

***Tales of Vesperia***

Published by Namco Bandai Games
Developed by Namco Tales Studio
Released 2008
*Rated T for Teen*

I've almost completed my second playthrough of this game. I got it for about $4 a couple months or so ago in the Xbox Live Marketplace. It was well worth it. It's a great game. I've really enjoyed it. Then I went and bought the disc version so I have a hard copy. Never know when Microsoft is gonna decide that the 360 no longer exists to them and all Marketplace purchases become null and void. (I'm a pessimist.)

***Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike***
Released 2012
*Rated TV-14*

Not a game, but definitely game related as it is the prequel movie to the Tales of Vesperia game. I liked the game so much that I decided the movie was worth getting...despite my dislike for the graphics style. ;) And I'm glad I did. This is a good movie, pretty funny, though I won't let my kids watch it 'til they're a little older (they're 9 & 12 now). Kinda bloody. Deserves the rating, definitely.

Until next time...

New Loot! (#10)

Yet more loot, this time from my wishlist...

***Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD***

Published by Ubisoft
Developed by Ubisoft
Released 2012
*Rated M for Mature*

I wasn't sure I'd ever get this one. It's been on my wishlist since long before I even started this blog. I refuse to pay $20 for an arcade game. I mean, seriously? Overpriced much? Anyway, it went on sale for $5 in the Xbox Live Marketplace and that's more in my price range.

Until next time...

New Loot! (#9): Woe is... Xbone

Hubby bought an Xbox One. Seriously, "Xbone" is more accurate. It's a bonehead console. But he wanted Forza 6 and there was an Xbone that included it. He preordered the thing.

If you're the type of gamer that purchases a new console and wants to use it RIGHT NOW, don't get an Xbone. Seriously, hubby didn't even get to try Forza until TWO DAYS after he hooked this thing up. Granted, we don't have the fastest internet connection (AT&T U-verse), but it was still ridiculous. So much crap to download right from the start. Annoying.

I could give a comprehensive review already, but we've decided to buy a PS4 and do some comparisons. This should be fun...

Until next time...
